January Authentic Relating Games
Dear friends,
As we’re moving towards the longest night in 2021, the Authentic Oakland team is feeling gratitude. For me, it’s been a year of seeing people after a year of isolation. That made such a difference in my life!
Humans can regulate their emotions by being in the presence of others. This phenomenon is called co-regulation. Remember a time in your life when just having someone calmly listening to you made a big difference in how you felt about your challenges? That someone could be a parent, a friend, a neighbor, a stranger.
Being together to find balance is all the more potent when we are in those spaces where we can intentionally engage with one another. It’s a simple thing. It’s available to us. Most importantly, it’s a tool for resilience, especially when many unknowns.
Come practice with us.
Our next Authentic Relating Games event will happen on Monday, January 10, 2021, 7:00 - 9:00 pm PST via Zoom. Ahran and I will be facilitating. This event is limited to 16 people, so you’re encouraged to sign up early.
What are Authentic Relating Games? Authentic Relating Games are a place to practice different ways of being human with others. AR Games interrupt our habitual ways of being, and offer opportunities to stretch ourselves emotionally, mentally, and relationally. At the end of the games, participants often feel connected with one another.
What are the games like? Some of them are played one-on-one, some in small groups, some with the whole group. They can be fun and playful, or serious and edgy.
Curious, but not sure if this is for you? We understand. Feel free to reply to this message with any questions you might have.
We hope to see you at our next event.
With love,
Aïcha [EYE-shah]
