As mentioned in the last couple of communications from Authentic Oakland, we are rolling into Authentic Bay Area (ABA). That means transition. To get right to it:
From now on you can find and register for Authentic Relating events on the ABA events page.
We will *not* be automatically adding email addresses of those who have attended Authentic Oakland events to the ABA mailing list. It would be typical to do this. Conventional marketing “wisdom” says to do this, that it’s normal, that everyone will expect this, and so on… But how can we be authentically relating if we are behaving non consensually? This matters. So, if you would like to receive emails from ABA, please sign up. Other options are to follow ABA on Eventbrite, Facebook, and Instagram.
Ready to explore your inner world, deepen in relationship, and find true community? Join Ahran Lee, Dakota Quackenbush, and Jason Digges for Relational Intelligence Training. In person. In San Francisco. November 12 and 13, 2022. This training is part of the work needed to train more event facilitators! If you have an interest in facilitating event like those you’ve attended with Authentic Oakland, this training is for you! If you would like to get more practice and go deeper into effective and connective was of realting to others, this training is for you!
Those are the details. Now, as I wrap up this final communication as Authentic Oakland, I want to offer some gratitude and appreciation. Thank you to Joshua for the vision and initiative to start Authentic Oakland. I’m so happy and grateful for my connection to Joshua, and my participation in Authentic Oakland has become a very important and much loved aspect of my own self care.
Thank you to all the persons who participated in our events, from the first days on Zoom, deep in the pandemic times, to our more recent meetings outside at Lake Merritt, it has always felt so good to meet and connect, all the while practicing presence and acceptence of each other in all our messy and wonderful humanity.
Thank you to those who participated as organizers and facilitators: Aïcha, Phil, Doug, Ahran, Dakota. Together we’ve handled the admin, logistics, and the events. I’m grateful to have done things together and for the friendships that have grown.
Thank you to Ahran who came in with Authentic Relating training and experience when Joshua could no longer run Authentic Oakland. Ahran’s presence and committment were crucial to keeping Authentic Oakland going! Thank you to Dakota for showing up with big-feeling energy and grand-feeling visions for Authentic Relating in the entire Bay Area! It’s exciting to begin offering more and more of this to more and more people.
Though I don’t know any of them personally, thank you to the creators and practitioners of Authentic Relating. Sometimes it seems strange to me that we need to ‘invent’ or formalize things that are so core to our fundamental nature, but when we’ve managed to create a culture the pours energy into avoiding… I guess that’s what we have to do. So, thank you for creating this way for us to remember and experience our basic human need for connection.
That all feels a little like good-bye, but it’s not!! The Authentic Bay Area site is up and running. Events are posted there. I hope to see you very soon at one of these events.
Warmly,
Ryan, for Authentic Oakland
